There are a lot of misconceptions about affiliate marketing, and this can be an obstacle for some marketers. Affiliate Marketing is not just about blogging and making money online, but it's also about building trust with your audience. In the post, you will learn how to get started in affiliate marketing today!
To jump-start my new blog, I am going to share my experience on starting with affiliate marketing. This is what I have learned so far:
1) Know your niche - You need to find a topic that you're passionate about or knowledgeable about before trying to promote products from other co-workers.
2) Build a website - You can build your site on WordPress or go for another free blog platform like Tumblr or Blogger. No matter what you choose, make sure it looks professional and is easy to navigate. Note: Make sure the website address (URL) is available to purchase if you do not already own one. Usually, I advise people to register their domain name with Namecheap because they are competitively priced and reliable.
3) Drive traffic - Now that your site is up and running, don't forget about driving traffic to your new website through organic search engine optimization (SEO), other social media sites, email marketing, video marketing YouTube videos, etc., publishing other relevant content related to the topic of your website, and creating social communities. Also make sure to link out to other relevant content when you publish your blog post, just be careful not to overdo this.
4) Build relationships - This is the most important part of affiliate marketing! I cannot stress enough how much importance it has when it comes to being successful with affiliate marketing under any circumstance. This will determine the future growth of your business by enabling you to build strong relationships with people in your niche through one-on-one email outreach, guest blogging, building an audience by engaging on social media sites, or joining communities online that are related to your niche. At the same time establish rules of engagement so that you don't come across as spamming them because this would have dire consequences. When you respectfully engage them, they would be more open to affiliate opportunities even if it is not directly related to your niche.
5) Focus on the long-term rather than the short-term - You should focus on growing your audience and building trust with them before thinking about making money from affiliate marketing. Your audience will need time to grow and when the numbers are right, that's when you start selling products or services that will add value to their lives. In addition, this stage is where you gain their trust which means that you can make a connection with them at a deeper level since they know, like, and trust you already.
6) Use PPC campaigns - This is an effective way of boosting traffic quickly. It's a good way to try out your website and find out if people will purchase the products or services you are promoting. You can set up PPC campaigns on Google AdWords which is free and easy to start up. Note: Make sure that the keywords you choose have enough volume for this campaign because if they don't, it would be hard to get any type of ROI (Return on Investment).
7) Do not give up! - You may experience some failures along the way but never give up. Stick with affiliate marketing and see it through until you get the results you want. If something does not work for one niche, then try finding another product/service/personality in your niche that you'd like to promote.
You don't want to promote a product that doesn't offer quality or value. The last thing you want is for your readers see right through your article and know it was written by an affiliate who has no interest in the product they promote. Remember, clickbait articles will not get you anywhere with this audience! Mistakes that are commonly made by affiliate marketers include over-promoting products, forgetting about customer service, and not respecting their own brand values. Learn from other people's mistakes so you can avoid making them yourself!
